Ha ha! There's something wonderfully liberating in it! For some reason, visiting that dark place isn't so difficult for me. Maybe because I LIVED there for so long. People...friends....call me brave for what I write about myself; I say that it's only brave if you're afraid. Thanks for this wonderful posting that's got me thinking and inspired! It's wonderful to meet you! xo JuliaAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6679290097608453213.post-2661495591446130042012-09-26T04:36:19.011-07:002012-09-26T04:36:19.011-07:00Hi Kathy. I've written a novel, Once Removed, in which one of the characters is self-harming. It was my response to being shown slices a girl made in her own thighs, when I was in high school many years ago. I didn't know what to do then but the bafflement never went away and prompted research, which grew into a story. So your "naked confessions" really struck home for me, too.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6679290097608453213.post-34799250382599633032012-09-25T18:23:58.732-07:002012-09-25T18:23:58.732-07:00Thanks Jenny! But without that honesty with ourselves, the book just won't be very worthwhile I feel that we are writers because we enjoy learning about all aspects of the human condition, good and bad.
